Staying at the Pink Hotel Coolangatta
Nestled on the pristine shores of Coolangatta, the Pink Hotel is a vibrant gem that stands out against the backdrop of Quensland’s Gold Coast. For those seeking a pink paradise, this boutique hotel promises just that. Ruby Travels invites you to discover the allure of the Pink Hotel Coolangatta, where you can immerse yourself in art, food, and relaxation in one of Australia's very own pink hotels
Welcome to the Pink Hotel
The Pink Hotel Coolangatta is not your typical hotel; it's an eclectic coastal oasis for those seeking a unique blend of retro charm, coastal chic, and a whole lot of pink! I was fortunate to stay here during a recent trip back to Australia, where I enjoyed all the Pink Hotel Coolangatta had to offer on a vacation with my cousin.
The hotel, formerly the Coolangatta Ocean View Motel, has been refurbished back to its former 1950s glory. The moment you set foot inside, you're greeted by an explosion of the colour that has become synonymous with this Gold Coast boutique hotel.
Location, Location, Location
When it comes to choosing accommodation for your trip, location is paramount, and the Pink Hotel Coolangatta delivers on this front. Located on Marine Parade, this boutique hotel is metres from the ocean, and just a short stroll to Coolangatta Beach and Greenmount Beach. I loved being able to wake up in the morning and enjoy a walk along the beachfront. The oceanfront location makes it an ideal destination for those who want to wake up to the sound of the sea and have instant access to sun, sand and surf.
A few metres in the opposite direction, you’ll find the State Border Mark, indicating the Queensland and New South Wales state border. An interesting place to visit, especially during Daylight savings where you will experience going forward in time as you cross the street into New South Wales. Queensland does not observe Daylight savings, whereas New South Wales does, therefore you will experience a time zone difference of one hour, with New South Wales being an hour ahead of sunny Queensland. I like to call it the time walk.
The Views
One of the most incredible features of the Pink Hotel Coolangatta is the ocean views. Each room boasts a balcony with outdoor seating, offering views of the Pacific Ocean.
If that’s not enough, wander up to the rooftop to enjoy panoramic views of the Southern Gold Coast and the Pacific Ocean. On Fridays and Saturdays, you’ll find the rooftop transformed into a cocktail bar where you can enjoy the sunset with a cocktail in hand. During my stay, the cocktail bar was closed due to weather but that didn’t stop us from heading to the local BWS and grabbing some drinks to enjoy up there by ourselves.
The Accommodation
The Pink Hotel Coolangatta offers a variety of room options, each with its own unique character and charm. From cozy pink king rooms to luxurious Medusa-themed Suites, you'll find the perfect space to suit your needs and preferences. All rooms are thoughtfully designed, blending, mid-century furniture, and Scandinavian bathrooms. With Netflix, king-sized beds, and stocked minibars with snacks and beverages, if it weren’t for the oceanfront location, it would be hard to leave the comfort of these rooms.
Dining at the Pink Hotel
While there is no on-site restaurant, all the foodie goodness can be brought straight to your room. The Pink Hotel Coolangatta offers in-room dining services with daily breakfast and late-night bites ordered straight to your room. Breakfast and coffee are available from Ground Coolangatta daily from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., and burgers and wings can be ordered Wednesday through Sunday from Eddie’s Grub House.
If you’re still hungry after that, don’t forget that fully stocked minibar!
